
  Dapsone is an Anti-leprotic drug. It is diaminino diphenyl sulfone (DDS).

 Anti Leprotic
 In combination with pyrimethamine - Chloroquine resistant malaria
 Toxoplasmosis - A disease that results from infection with the Toxoplasma gondii parasite.
 P. jirovecii infections
Adverse effect
 Mild haemolytic anaemia (patients with G-6-PD deficiency are more susceptible)
 Nausea and anorexia
 Methaemoglobinaemia
 Itching and allergic rashes
Sulfone syndrome
 It is the reaction which develops 4-6 weeks after starting dapsone treatment.
 Symptoms : fever, malaise (A general sense of being unwell, often accompanied by fatigue, diffuse pain or lack of interest in activities), lymph node enlargement, desquamation of skin, jaundice and anaemia.
 Treatment : Stopping dapsone and instituting corticosteroid therapy.
